Delft – We are excited to share Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) has successfully installed Q*Bird’s MDI QKD Falqon® Series system, a major step toward Spain’s first metropolitan-scale, multi-node MDI QKD network.
The live network is powered by our MDI QKD Falqon® Series and features a hub-and-spoke topology with an untrusted center hub, an optical switch and three Q*Bird QKD nodes connected via fiber. This infrastructure will enable multi-node quantum key distribution across the city, helping to pave the way for a secure, scalable quantum network in Madrid that will contribute to EuroQCI and support Europe’s path toward a federated quantum internet.
With multiple nodes connected through our MDI QKD Falqon® Series, Madrid is setting a new standard for secure, metropolitan-scale quantum communication networks.
